ICC is pleased to announce students in its Medical Laboratory Technician Program for Fall 2016! Students in the ICC Medical Laboratory Technician Program complete 65 hours of coursework to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree. Clinical experiences are provided in labs in Illinois and Iowa. Under the supervision of Medical Laboratory Scientists, MLTs perform most of the common laboratory tests in a medical laboratory. They use microscopes and other high-tech, computer-operated equipment to analyze body fluids and cells; look for bacteria, parasites and other organisms; analyze the chemical content of fluids; match blood for transfusion; and test for drug levels in the blood to gauge a patient's response to treatment. ICC welcomes students into the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program for Fall 2016! Students in ICC's Occupational Therapy Assistant Program complete 66 hours of classroom coursework and clinical experience to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree and seek certification as an occupational therapy assistant. The occupational therapy assistant works under the direction of an occupational therapist. Occupational therapy provides rehabilitation for people with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments and helps people improve the quality of their lives by overcoming or compensating for limitations they may have. Students in ICC's Medical Assistant Program complete a total of 41 credit hours, consisting of classroom and clinical experience, to earn a certificate. Graduates of ICC's program are well-prepared to work in ambulatory settings performing administrative and clinical duties such as assessing patient's vital signs and histories, preparing patients for procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments, collecting and processing specimens, performing selected diagnostic tests, performing electrocardiograms, and administration of medications as directed by the physician. Students of ICC's Radiography Program complete six semesters (71 credit hours) of coursework on the ICC campuses, including extensive, supervised clinical experience at local health care facilities. Graduates of the program are prepared to perform a variety of functions in medical imaging departments of hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Successful students earn an Associate in Applied Science degree and are eligible to apply to take the National Certification Exam in diagnostic radiography through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Illinois Central College is pleased to welcome students into its Therapeutic Massage Program for Fall 2016! Many massage therapists enter the profession because of their interest in helping others and in the healthcare field. They work in a variety of settings and may receive physician referrals to complement traditional medical treatment for illness, injury, and pain. Students in the ICC Therapeutic Massage Program learn how to help improve the health and well-being of individuals by administering massage techniques for relaxation or for relief from aches and pains or stress. Upon completion of 37 hours of coursework, including clinical experience, students in the ICC Therapeutic Massage Program earn a certificate. ICC is proud to welcome students into its Practical Nursing Program for fall 2016. The Practical Nursing Program is designed to prepare the nursing graduate to provide quality care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist, or podiatrist. LPNs monitor vital signs, change dressings, prepare and give injections, assist patients with personal hygiene, and meet their emotional needs. In some instances, such as in nursing homes, licensed practical nurses evaluate residents' needs, develop care plans, and supervise nursing aides. ICC Chamber Singers recently took time out from their music retreat to sing a great spiritual for the guests dining at the Loaves and Fish feeding ministry at the First United Methodist Church in Peoria, Ill. A Loaves and Fish volunteer told the group that they had an unexpected effect on one of their reserved weekly guests. The volunteer said that, as the students started to sing, the woman stopped eating and turned to listen with a smile on her face. The volunteer said it is the first time she has seen this guest smile in months. Thank you, ICC Chamber Singers, for spreading your joy of music!

ICC is proud to welcome students into its Nursing Program for fall 2016! The Nursing Program at ICC prepares graduates for work in health care facilities such as clinics, hospitals, physician offices, home health care agencies, or extended care facilities. Nurses assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with acute or chronic health problems; administer medication, treatments prescribed by physicians; and coordinate varied activities of allied health care workers. Congratulations! We're so glad you chose ICC!

ICC Horticulture Program students currently are participating in the "Come Alive Outside Design Challenge," which provides an opportunity for teams of post-secondary and secondary students to work together with landscape professionals to design and build engaging outdoor learning environments at schools and childcare facilities. ICC students will partner with Come Alive Outside, The Kitchen Community, and Christy Webber Landscapes to create an outdoor learning environment for Hanson Park Elementary School in Chicago, Ill. Teams have until Dec. 2 to finalize proposals, which will be judged by a professional panel and voted on by the community of teachers and parents at Hanson Park. All submissions will be featured at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show in March 2017. The winning design will be announced in December, with the winning design scheduled to be built on the school grounds in the spring of 2017.

Congratulations on acceptance into Culver-Stockton's fall 2017 incoming class.

ICC students brought home a gold trophy from the Blick Madness Painting Competition, hosted by Dick Blick art store, on September 22, 2016. The students competed as a group and painted a fall scene, complete with campfire and pumpkins. The students had just an hour and a half to complete the painting. The group competed against other two- and four-year institutions in Illinois, including: Western Illinois University, Eastern Illinois University, Monmouth College, Eureka College, Bradley University, and Carl Sandburg. ICC students have won the gold trophy in three out of the last five competitions.

Our student ambassadors take prospective students and families on tours of campus. They also attend recruiting events and receptions with the admissions team. They are truly the front line of recruiting for Carthage and we couldn't survive without them.

Illinois Central College Learning Lab welcomes student tutors for the fall 2016 semester. Congratulations to all!

ICC Paralegal Program students completed their summer internships at various law firms, state's attorney's offices, legal aid offices, as well as local businesses. They earned 225 hours of real-world paralegal experience over the course of an eight-week summer semester. These ABA Approved Paralegal Program students did a fantastic job. Congratulations!

Students in ICC's Criminal Justice Program this summer participated in internships to gain real-world perspectives on a potential career field.

Illinois Central College, East Peoria, awarded diplomas and/or certificates to more than 900 students for the Spring 2016 semester. More than 325 graduates participated in the commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Peoria Civic Center.

Illinois Central College presented Dean's List honors to students who earned a grade point average of 3.5 - 3.99 on a 4.0 scale for Spring 2016 semester.

ICC students receiving a perfect 4.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) were honored by being named to the President's List for the Spring 2016 semester.

The State University of New York at New Paltz has announced its Dean's List for the spring 2016 semester. Dean's List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade-point average in a semester with a full-time course load.

Augustana College announced 913 students were named to the Dean's List for the 2016 spring term. Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a four-point scale for courses taken during the term.

A hallmark of the Carthage experience since the mid-1990s, the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience offers students across academic divisions the opportunity to engage in collaborative full-time research with professors. Students work closely with a faculty mentor on a new or developing line of research.

List of students who were named to the University of Iowa Spring 2016 Dean's List

The Iowa State University College of Engineering's Dean's List honors students who have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., held its spring commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 22. Eric Christian Olsen, an actor, and Paul Olsen, Augustana professor of English and head men's cross country and track and field coach, delivered the commencement speech as father and son. Around 530 students participated in the ceremony.

On May 22, 2016, 455 Carthage students became Carthage alumni.

A total of 833 students have been named to the Carthage College Dean's List for the Spring 2016 semester.
